Itinerary

09:30 | Arrival in the Monferrato astigiano.

Guided visit to a selected Flower Farm and private workshop on sustainable flower design.

◊ A Flower Farm is a farm where cut flowers are grown for a local market, according to the principles of organic cultivation and biodiversity. Seasonal, organic and local are the values embodied by the Slow Flower movement, born in the United States and introduced back to the birthplace of the Slow Food movement in a wonderful virtuous circle. Farmers and supporters, convinced of the need for a revolution in organic and zero-km flower production, follow the same principles by offering a sustainable alternative on the cut flower market. "Out of season" flowers often come from faraway places, cultivated in many cases without respect for the worker or the health of the planet, and arrive in our homes after traveling thousands of kilometers by plane; tons of CO2 for a bunch of flowers! However, each season offers magnificent flowers in your own local area, you just need to discover them. About 150 species of cut flowers and over 350 varieties of annual and perennial plants are grown in this small family-run company in Piedmont. In addition, every year new blooms are selected, including ancient and uncommon varieties difficult to find on the traditional market. You will be welcomed in the farm garden where you will learn all the basics to grow your "cut garden" and have fresh flowers all year round, in full respect of biodiversity, seasonality and sustainability. Learn about irrigation, mulching and sowing, the division of tubers, and about natural remedies for the defense of plants. Discover how to cut, preserve, and combine flowers and fronds in your natural bouquet to enhance each individual stem for its unique character, texture and color. Create a bouquet of fresh flowers, or a DIY centerpiece, or a spring or autumn wreath. The best production on the farm will be available to inspire your creativity so you can have fun constructing a fantastic personalized arrangement to take home.

At the end of the workshop, partake in an aperitif or herbal tea with edible flowers in the panoramic garden of the farm.
