Day 2 – 100% Barolo

Breakfast.

Departure for panoramic tour of the Barolo Hills.

Suggested itinerary provided by Landmade based on the period/day chosen, to be carried out with own car.

10:30 | Visit to a selected Barolo winery of La Morra area with tasting.

◊ The King of Wines and the Wine of Kings. Crafted from Nebbiolo grapes, Barolo is the most famous of the Great Langhe Reds and holds an esteemed place in the heart of fine wine lovers. Deceptively light in colour, Barolo wines are generally deep and full bodied, and must meet stringent conditions to bear their DOCG label. The long history of this wine, intertwined with stories of noble castles and the unique UNESCO listed vineyards, makes for an experience that goes beyond the senses and touches the heart.

La Morra is the largest of the communes that produce the famed Barolo. Each has its unique characteristics and the Barolo from this area has elegant qualities. Their aromatic profile and floral perfumes mean they can be enjoyed sooner than many others.

12:30 | Lunch at selected restaurant (set tasting menu or 3 courses à la carte, drinks excluded).

Continuation of panoramic tour of the Barolo Hills.

16:30 | Visit to a selected Barolo winery of Serralunga area with tasting.

◊ The Barolo wines from the Serralunga area are structured and powerful. With a reputation for taking a more traditional approach, the growers here prize the depth of tannin produced from this terroir, and these wines benefit from at least a decade of aging.

Day 3 – A Dog’s Life in Piedmont

Breakfast.

Departure for panoramic tour of the Roero Hills.

Suggested itinerary provided by Landmade based on the period/day chosen, to be carried out with own car.

10:30 | Arrival and meeting with an experienced local ‘trifolao’ (truffle hunter in Piedmontese dialect).

Private truffle hunting excursion in the wood with the trifolao and his trusty dog along with a thorough  explanation of the truffle and the truffle hunting life (what the truffle is, its life cycle, the varieties, truffle use, truffle, truffle hunt, history and myth, the dog, harvest calendar and marketing).

It’s a rare thing to be invited into the life of a truffle hunter. Secrecy has protected their precious hunting grounds for generations, so during your private truffle hunting excursion you will experience a real sense of mystery as you are lead deep into the woods on unmarked roads. Always at the front will be the trifolao's trusty dog, the “tabui”, and we dare you to resist the thrill of the chase when the tabui picks up the scent!

Final aperitif in the wood (assortment of snacks and truffle-based specialties, drinks included).

13:00 | Themed lunch with the truffle hunter (6 courses of which 3 with fresh Black Truffle, drinks included).

In season, from October until January, lunch with fresh White Truffle.

During your intimate lunch with the trifolao, you’ll experience the culinary pairings of food and wine that bring the best out of the truffle. Learn more about the history of the truffle, its life cycle, and the life of those who have made it their profession to bring this aromatic prize to the world.

Departure for panoramic tour of Alta Langa.

Suggested itinerary provided by Landmade based on the period/day chosen, to be carried out with own car.

11:00 | Visit to a selected hazelnut farm producing and processing Nocciole Piemonte IGP, including the different stages of production, from picking to shelling, and from roasting to the creation of artisan sweets.

Final tasting-lunch (4 courses based on Nocciole Piemonte IGP, drinks included).

Panoramic tour of the Barbaresco Hills.

Suggested itinerary provided by Landmade based on the period/day chosen, to be carried out with own car.

16:30 | Visit to a selected Barbaresco winery with tasting.

In Barbaresco we find the Queen of Wines, also from Nebbiolo grapes and while sharing many similarities with Barolo, the Barbaresco wines emerge with tannins that soften more quickly. The villages and rolling hills in this small area offer a similarly mesmerising visit to accompany your taste buds, and the subtle differences in climate and soil produce a distinct and even rarer fine wine that ripens earlier, and is well structured and aromatic.
